Ancient Living: Returning to the Source.
At Shreeguru Aashram, Ancient Living is not a step backwards into the past, but a conscious leap forward into a harmonious future. It is the art of living in absolute alignment with the cosmic order (Rta ऋत)). For millennia, the Vedic way of life has shown that true health, deep peace, and spiritual awakening are inseparable from the natural world.
We invite the “New Man” to step out of the chaotic, mechanical rhythms of modern society and return to a lifestyle where every breath, every meal, and every daily action is an act of meditation.
We must remember that this physical body is merely a loan from the elements. At the moment of death, we return what we borrowed; our body is the final, ultimate offering we give back to Mother Earth as we surrender it to the sacred fire, dissolving our temporary form back into the vastness of the cosmos. Knowing this, our entire life becomes a preparation—a sacred journey of living lightly and reverently.
The Pillars of Ancient Living.
Yat Pinde Tat Brahmande.
The Microcosm Reflects the Macrocosm
The ancient sages discovered a profound truth: Yat Pinde Tat Brahmande—as is the individual, so is the universe. Human beings are not separate from existence but living expressions of the same intelligence that governs the cosmos. The forces that move the stars, regulate the seasons, and sustain life are present within us. Through self-understanding, we begin to understand the deeper nature of existence itself.
Harmonizing the Pancha Mahabhutas
Both the human body and the natural world are composed of the same five elements: Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jala), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), and Space (Akasha). Physical, mental, and emotional imbalances often arise when these elements fall out of harmony. Through conscious living, meditation, Ayurveda, and mindful practices, we restore balance and support the body’s natural state of health and vitality.
Aligning with Nature's Intelligence.
Nature operates through perfect cycles, rhythms, and self-regulating principles. Ancient wisdom teaches that true well-being arises when we align our lives with these natural patterns. By living in harmony with the cycles of day and night, the changing seasons, and the needs of our body and mind, we support balance, clarity, and inner peace.
Living as Part of Nature.
Ancient Living recognizes that we are not owners of nature but participants within it. Modern society often promotes separation and control, creating conflict both within ourselves and in the world around us. By embracing coexistence rather than domination, we cultivate humility, respect, and a deeper sense of belonging within the interconnected web of life.
Ayurveda and Sattvic Nourishment.
Ayurveda teaches that health is the harmonious balance of body, mind, and consciousness. Through wholesome nutrition and Sattvic living, food becomes more than nourishment—it becomes a sacred practice. Rich in Prana (life-force energy), natural foods prepared and consumed with awareness support physical vitality, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.
Embracing Sahaja.
Living in Natural Ease.
Modern life is often driven by speed, stress, and constant striving. Ancient Living embraces Sahaja—the state of natural, effortless being. By aligning daily routines (Dinacharya) and seasonal practices (Ritucharya) with nature’s rhythms, we move from struggle to flow, from tension to ease, and from restless ambition to contentment.
Living in Sacred Harmony.
We do not own the Earth; we are an integral part of it. Nature does not require our control—it asks only for our respect, participation, and alignment. The outer world and the inner world reflect one another. When we bring balance, care, and reverence to our environment, harmony naturally arises within. Likewise, when we cultivate peace and awareness within ourselves, that harmony extends outward into the world.
Ancient Living is a path of conscious participation in life. It invites us to walk gently upon the Earth, live with gratitude, and embrace simplicity as a source of wisdom. In this state of alignment, life is no longer a struggle for achievement but a celebration of existence itself—lived in awareness, harmony, and complete surrender to the greater whole.
