Meditation: Returning to Your True Nature.

At Shree Guru Ashram, meditation is understood not as a technique, practice, or mental exercise, but as the natural state of pure awareness. It is the direct recognition of our true nature as consciousness (Chaitanya Atma)—the ever-present witnessing presence that exists beyond the mind, body, thoughts, and emotions.

Due to ignorance (Avidya) and the influence of Maya, human beings become identified with the body and mind, forgetting their essential nature. Yet the true Self is not an object that can be perceived through the senses or understood by the intellect. It is the silent awareness that knows every thought, feeling, sensation, and experience. Meditation and self-knowledge provide a direct path to realizing this timeless reality of “I Am.”

To support this awakening, Shree Guru Ashram offers transformative practices that help release suppressed emotions, dissolve accumulated tensions, and restore balance within the body-mind system. Through meditation, movement, sacred music, Ayurveda, and guidance from an awakened teacher, seekers are supported in uncovering their innate state of peace and presence. The Ashram also preserves and revives ancient spiritual methods, including elements of the traditional Pashupat system of Sadhana.

Meditation is not something to be attained because it is already our essential nature—Sat Chit Ananda (Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss). As understanding deepens and awareness becomes stable, thoughts gradually lose their hold, inner silence naturally emerges, and life begins to flow with greater clarity and ease.

When one recognizes the true Self, meditation is no longer an activity performed for a period of time. It becomes a continuous state of effortless presence. At this stage, techniques become secondary, and meditation reveals itself as the natural expression of being.

Key Principles.

  • Meditation is not an act; it is pure presence.
  • Meditation is not doing; it is being.
  • Meditation is not concentration; it is letting go.
  • Meditation is the direct recognition of one’s true nature.
